Our Inspiring Journey
The story of Dimath Group begins with our Founder and Proprietor, who was born in a humble mud house in the south of Sri Lanka, in the very town where the company now stands, built with the purpose of serving his community. Raised by loving parents, he was instilled with values of hard work and determination, yet his path was not without challenges.
Without the academic results needed for higher studies, he moved to Colombo at a young age, determined to support his family, including funding the education of his two younger sisters. Life in the city was far from easy. He walked 7 kilometers daily to work, unable to afford transportation, and lived at a construction site for weeks when he couldn't pay rent.
Through sheer determination, he worked tirelessly, earning recognition and promotions until he had secured a stable position. But when the company he worked for faced difficulties, he made the life-changing decision to return home, supported every step of the way by his wife.
Back in his hometown, he opened a small grocery shop with the purpose of providing a comfortable living for his wife and their newborn daughter. Through sleepless nights and unwavering dedication, he grew it into a wholesale business, delivering essentials like dhal and rice to shops across Sri Lanka. Long drives through the night, returning home at dawn, and starting the workday again without rest became his daily reality, a testament to his determination to create a better future for his family.
In 2007, four months after the birth of his son, the inspiration for the company's name, he ventured into the cinnamon trade. With the same perseverance, he grew the business year after year, moving from a small, modest facility to a large, modern factory. Over time, he diversified into new industries: sports goods distribution, a sports club, organic spice exports, pharmaceuticals, and a fuel station.
As the cinnamon enterprise flourished, he gradually expanded into other industries, building what is now the Dimath Group: a collection of companies that embody his belief that with hard work, integrity, and perseverance, anything is possible. What began with just two trusted workers now employs more than 400 dedicated team members, all united by the company's core values.
Today, Dimath Group stands as a symbol of what dedication, vision, and community spirit can achieve, operating as one family, one team, one journey.
